Grupo Carlos Casado expects good soybean and maize yields after rains in Chaco

In recent weeks there has been good rainfall in the productive areas of the Paraguayan Chaco, which has given companies a more auspicious scenario for better yields in the soybean and maize campaigns.
The production manager of the Carlos Casado Group, Enrique Valenzuela, explained to Valor Agro that as far as summer crops are concerned, the company started sowing soybeans in December in an area of 4,000 hectares and corn in 500 hectares, and that if the good rhythm of rains continues "we could expect a year with positive results", as long as it remains stable.
"Reaching 2,500 kilos of soybeans and 5,000 kilos of corn per hectare or more, with current prices, will undoubtedly raise agriculture in the Chaco to a very high link and that will strengthen the trust placed in this area," said the Executive in communication with radio Pa'i Puku 720 AM.
In this regard, Valenzuela emphasized that they have been accumulating rainfall since September, specifically in areas that are considered core production as Mariscal Estigarribia and Teniente Montanía; however, rainfall has not been significant in volume, yet it has helped soils, especially considering that the three previous seasons had been very dry.
"This year we had earlier rains that helped to build up the soil profile and to be able to work on drying the crop, and in December we started to get more accumulated rainfall, which is currently helping a lot," he said.
Despite three consecutive years without being able to sow the areas the company had planned, the aim is to maintain the surface area of some 7,000 hectares and achieve greater efficiency in areas that are not currently productive.
"Of all the areas that we are currently devoting to agriculture, 20% are not productive, and the challenge is to intervene in those areas and start increasing production, as well as boosting other resources such as livestock", said the company's production manager.
